Junsung "Matt" Lee is the Lead, Agenda and External Affairs at the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity. His research centers on Sino-U.S. maritime rivalry with specialization in hegemonic competition and maritime security. He previously served as an officer in the Republic of Korea Navy. He held research positions at the Society of Ieodo Research and the Institute of Law and Policy/Peace Studies at Jeju National University. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in political science from Jeju National University and his B.A. in English language and literature from Tsinghua University in Beijing.
